Five principles for selection of generic cabling cables
We can know from the definition of generic cabling that it can connect voice equipment, data equipment, switching equipment and various control equipment with the information management system. To achieve this function, we need a transmission medium to transmit information. Cable is one of its transmission media, so how should we choose cables according to user requirements and environmental conditions? Next, we will explain its selection principles in detail from five aspects.
Selection principle 1: when the building is still under construction or has been completed but has not been put into operation, the interference field intensity and frequency range of the environment around the building shall be measured when determining the type selection of generic cabling system; Whether the distance from other interference sources can meet the specification requirements shall be investigated, and the category of generic cabling system shall also be predicted. According to these conditions, measure with various index requirements specified in the specification, select appropriate hardware and take corresponding measures.
Selection principle 2. When the site conditions permit or the reconstruction project has conditions to measure the noise signal level of generic cabling system, the noise signal level limit specified in the specification can be used to measure, select appropriate hardware and take corresponding measures.
Selection principle III. the anti-interference ability of various cables and wiring equipment can refer to the following values:
UTP cable (without shielding layer) 40dB
FRP cable (longitudinally wrapped with aluminum foil) 85dB
SFTP cable (longitudinally wrapped with aluminum foil and copper braided mesh) 90dB
STP cable (each pair of core wires and cables are wrapped with aluminum foil and copper braided mesh) 98dB
Deterioration of wiring equipment after insertion ≤ 30dB
Selection principle 4. When selecting cables and connecting hardware, after a certain category is determined, its consistency shall be ensured. For example, if category 5 is selected, both cables and connecting hardware shall be category 5. If shielding is selected, both cables and connecting hardware shall be shielded and a good grounding system shall be made.
Selection Principle 5. When selecting the generic cabling system, it shall be considered according to the user's actual needs in the short term and long term, and it is not suitable to apply one size fits all. It shall be comprehensively considered according to different communication business requirements. On the premise of meeting the requirements of short-term users, it shall properly consider the requirements of long-term users, with good universality and flexibility. It shall try to avoid reconstruction and expansion in a short time after completion, resulting in unnecessary waste. If it takes too long, it will increase the initial investment, which is not necessarily economical and reasonable. Generally speaking, it is difficult to expand the horizontal wiring, which should be based on the long-term needs, and the vertical trunk line is easy to expand, which should be based on the short-term needs to properly meet the long-term needs.
Through the five principles of cable selection explained above, we should know how to select cables according to user requirements and environmental conditions in generic cabling.
