How to prevent wire and cable fire

Measures to prevent fire of wires and cables:

1. Ensure the construction quality, especially the manufacturing quality of cable head, must strictly meet the specified requirements.

2. Strengthen cable operation monitoring to avoid cable overload operation.

3. Conduct cable test on schedule and handle it in time if it is found abnormal.

4. The cable trench shall be kept dry to prevent the cable from being affected by moisture, resulting in insulation drop and short circuit.

5. Clean the accumulated dust on the cable regularly to prevent the cable from catching fire due to the spontaneous combustion of the accumulated dust.

6. Strengthen regular calibration and maintenance of cable circuit switch and protection to ensure reliable action.

7. Keep enough distance from the thermal pipeline during cable laying, and the control cable shall not be less than 0.5m; The power cable shall not be less than 1m. The control cable and power cable shall be arranged in different slots, layers and separately, and shall not be overlapped between layers. Flame retardant and thermal insulation measures shall be taken for cables that do not meet the requirements.

9. Take fire and flame retardant measures. Fire and flame retardant measures for cables include:

(1) Wrap the cable with thermal insulation and flame-retardant materials. (3) Apply fireproof coating on the cable surface.

(4) Wrap the fire-proof parts of the cable with fire-proof tape.

(5) A heat-resistant fireproof board shall be set between cable layers to prevent flashover between cable layers and expand the fire.

(6) Sectional partition walls and fire doors shall be set in the cable channel to prevent cable flashover and expand the fire.

10. Provide necessary fire fighting equipment and facilities. The ignition of overhead cables can be extinguishing by common fire extinguishing equipment, but automatic or remote control fire extinguishing devices should be installed in the cable interlayer, shaft, ditch and tunnel, such as 1301 fire extinguishing device, water spray fire extinguishing device and so on.
