Basic knowledge of overhead cable
Overhead cables are suitable for overhead power lines with AC rated voltage of 35kV and below. They are used in cities and towns, high-rise buildings, forest areas and other places with high safety requirements. Overhead cables are generally used at voltage levels of 10kV and below. The long-term working temperature shall be polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polyethylene (PE) insulation, which shall not exceed 70 ℃; Cross linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation shall not exceed 90 ℃. The laying temperature of overhead cable shall not be lower than - 20 ℃. For overhead fixed laying, a certain distance between cables and trees shall be considered during erection, and frequent contact with trees is allowed during cable operation.
Technical performance requirements for overhead cables:
① Conductors shall be compacted round stranded conductors
② The breaking force of the bearing strand shall comply with the provisions in table 10.
③ The insulation shall be black weather resistant PVC, polyethylene and cross-linked polyethylene
④ The cable shall be able to withstand the specified AC voltage test for 1 minute, and the insulation shall not break down.
⑤ 10kV cable with insulation shield shall be subject to partial discharge test, and its discharge capacity shall not be greater than 20pc.
