Dimensional inspection of wires and cables
When purchasing wires and cables, the quality shall be strictly controlled. The wire and cable manufacturers believe that the size of wires and cables should also be checked. The size inspection of wires and cables includes: outer diameter measurement, conductor stranding pitch measurement, weighing section measurement, thickness measurement of insulating skin or sheath, tape gap and overlap rate measurement; The following is a brief introduction to these measurements by the cable manufacturer:
1. Outer diameter measurement: the measurement methods for the outer diameter of wires and cables include: direct measurement method, paper tape method and scale magnifying glass method; We often use direct measurement method and paper tape method.
2. Measurement of conductor stranding pitch: the pitch is the displacement of the single line on the conductive core during one cycle of rotation. The pitch of wire and cable includes bundle pitch, strand pitch, cable pitch and wrapping pitch.
3. Measurement of weighing section: the specification of the cable is usually expressed by the nominal section, which is generally assessed and measured by the DC resistance. In the actual production, the weighing section should also be measured, and the conductor stranding should be improved through the relationship between the weighing section and the DC resistance, so as to achieve a reasonable design. Measuring tools: electronic scale, steel tape.
4. Thickness measurement of insulating skin or sheath: there are generally two methods for measuring the thickness of wire and cable insulation or sheath: outer diameter measurement method and direct measurement method
5. Measurement of tape gap and overlap rate: measuring tool: vernier caliper
6. Measurement of braid density: measuring tool: micrometer
