What is the function of cable filler
Introduction to the function of cable filler
After the multi-core cable is completed, there must be a large gap between the insulated cores. In order to make the outer diameter of the finished cable relatively round, so as to facilitate the wrapping and extrusion of the sheath, as well as the stability of the cable and the firmness of the interior, the gap must be filled with materials. Although filling is an auxiliary structure, it is also necessary, especially for cables with large conductor section.
There are two filling methods for power cables: one is to use fiber and fill, and the filling amount is set according to the calculated gap area; Second, it is filled with prefabricated foamed plastic strips, which are also prefabricated according to the calculated area.
The filling of multi-core mobile rubber sheathed cable after cable formation is generally only to fill the central part, and several gaps on the outside are directly embedded when squeezing the rubber sleeve. The reason is that after the rubber cable is completed, it generally does not add wrapping tape, nor does it use a hard armor layer, and rubber is softer and more elastic than plastic. The center filling can be rubber strip, hemp rope or synthetic fiber strip. However, because the mining cable has to bear a lot of extrusion pressure or impact force, it needs to fill the center well. Saddle shaped core filling must be prefabricated, and rubber with high rubber content must be used.
Filling materials include jute, cotton yarn, rubber strip, plastic strip and polypropylene tear film strip, etc. The main requirement is to use non hygroscopic materials. No effect on insulating materials (no chemical reaction), cheap, etc. At present, power cables are mainly made of polypropylene tear film strips and foam crosslinked polyethylene. Jute or rubber strip shall be used for rubber sheathed cable.
